Bright Start Foundation programmes and projects are informed by systematic and rigorous analysis of academic research, expert and stakeholder opinion, and educational and social policies aiming to bringing about ground-breaking practices and inform policy.
Programmes and projects are undertaken in partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders who have vested interest in advancing early childhood practices and policies, locally and globally.
We envision creating a better landscape for a fair and sustainable future for the most precious members of our society—young children—whom we recognise as citizens of both today and tomorrow, as well as agents of meaningful change.
Our approach embraces a holistic vision of citizenship, spanning from cradle to grave, breaking down barriers and challenging practices that view early childhood merely as a preparatory stage for future citizenship. Instead, we advocate for the realization of children’s rights as lifelong citizens, empowering them to actively participate in decision-making and societal transformation.
We work with academia and researchers, with civil society organisations, with funders and government departments, with early childhood educators, communities, families and children for programme and project co-development and design, and evidence co-production envisioning a sustainable future for children in a rapidly changing world. Bright Start Foundation projects are not limited to formal early childhood education, but integrate and forge non-formal, informal, intergenerational, and cross-cultural learning.
Bright Start programmes and projects also contribute to evidence building to further our understanding and knowledge, and inform relevant practices and policies.
Thus, all programmes and projects are monitored and evaluated for their direct impact and benefit for participants and their implications for the wider early childhood community.
Data gathered and analysed is intended to tell the programme or project story, and
deliver sound evaluative judgements for decision making, and actionable and
sustainable practice and policy reform.
Programme and project impact evaluation framework has a three-pronged focus, that is:
· Outcomes for children and their families, the educators, and the wider community.
· Exploration of evidence-based innovative pedagogical approaches investing on the voices of children.
· Policy recommendations for enhancing and enriching early childhood curricula across formal, non-formal, and informal early childhood education and care settings.
Project development and design, monitoring and evaluation are conducted in an atmosphere of trust, where collaboration, openness, respect for and of difference and diversity are encouraged and promoted.
We are a diverse and inclusive organisation, fostering a culture of organisational and individual learning and empowerment.
For monitoring and impact evaluation, informed consent is received by all programme and project participants, adhering to ethical guidelines about social research, while due respect is paid to local and cultural norms and conventions.
